College History

            In January 1936, a 2-year nursing school of the People's Commissariat of Health of the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic was opened in the city of Karakol.
            By the resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on November 21, 1939, it became known as the Przhevalsk Obstetrical School of the Issyk-Kul Regional Health Department.
            From 1940 to 1941 – Przhevalsk Medical School of the Issyk-Kul Regional Health Department.
            From 1943 to 1948 – Przhevalsk Secondary Medical School of the Issyk-Kul Regional Health Department.
            From 1948 to 1951 – Przhevalsk Medical School of the Issyk-Kul Regional Health Department.
            From 1951 to 1955 – Przhevalsk Obstetrical School of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz SSR.
            From 1955 to 1991 – Przhevalsk Medical School.
            From October 10, 1991, to 2003 – Karakol Medical School of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
            From December 29, 2003, to 2009 – Karakol Medical School named after Academician I. Akhunbaev.
            Since March 19, 2009 – Karakol Medical College named after Academician I. Akhunbaev.
